Subwoofer Material

The material of the subwoofer has a significant impact on its sound quality. Common subwoofer materials include solid wood, density board, aluminum plate, paper cone, bulletproof cloth, wool woven cone and PP cone. Each material has its own unique characteristics and applicable scenarios:

Solid wood: It has a superior texture, but the cost is high, suitable for users who pursue high-quality sound effects.

Density board: It has a high cost-effectiveness and good acoustic performance, suitable for general home use.

Aluminum plate: It is strong and durable, suitable for occasions requiring high strength and moisture resistance.

Paper cone: It has natural tone, low cost, good rigidity, but poor moisture resistance and manufacturing consistency, suitable for top HiFi systems.

Bulletproof cloth: It has a wide frequency response and low distortion, suitable for users who pursue strong bass, but it is expensive and complicated.

Wool woven cone: It has a soft texture, suitable for soft and light music, but the bass effect and strength are slightly inferior.
‌PP basin‌: good consistency, low distortion, often used in high-end speakers‌.
In addition, the box material of the subwoofer will also affect the sound effect. Common box materials include:

‌Wood board‌: excellent sound quality, overall quality, but high cost and strict processing requirements‌.
‌Fiberglass‌: has excellent hardness and sound insulation effect, low box resonance, suitable for high-demand applications‌.
‌High-density fiberboard‌: high density and excellent rigidity, suitable for making high-quality speakers‌.
‌Medium-density fiberboard‌: uniform structure, moderate density, good damping characteristics, widely used in various home manufacturing fields‌.
‌Low-density fiberboard‌: easy to deform after being damp, poor rigidity, but the quality is comparable to medium-density fiberboard‌.
‌Particleboard‌: made of coarser-grained wood chips, unique structure, suitable for some applications‌.
‌Fiberboard‌: made of multiple layers of thin veneer glued and pressed, with good sound insulation effect‌.
